The C-Cactus has a simple design that decreases the number of elements - even doing away with the dashboard - which contributes to a reduction in weight, cost and impact on the environment.
The project will look at a range of power plants, including a 1.0 liter, sub-100g/km CO2 petrol engine; a HyMotion2 diesel-electric hybrid returning near 100mpg and CO2 emissions of just 78g/km; and a 100% electric model that offers zero emissions together with a 70mph top speed and a range of almost 100 miles.

Reinforcing its environmental bona fides, the company has also declared a second generation of its Stop & Start technology, promising amended fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Previewed on the C3 Picasso at the Paris Motor Show, the new system recovers energy during braking and deceleration to recharge the vehicle’s battery without consuming fuel.

The new micro-hybrid system will be introduced in 2010 and will be available on a range of petrol and diesel models.

A novel ‘S’ trim level decreases the starting price to £19,440 (1.4 TSI S). These S models are fitted with tools which include semi-automatic climate control, remote central locking, stability control and 16-inch alloys wheels.

SE models starting from £20,530 add back parking sensors, a trip computer, front central armrest, 17-inch alloy wheels and the Luxury Pack options: automatic headlights, automatic wipers and electric-folding door mirrors.

The Sport and Individual alternative package continues: the Sport pack at £670 includes 18-inch alloy wheels and additions in the form of Luxury Pack options have been made to the Individual package.

The RENNtech Rally Racer has been stimulated by the Pikes Peak hill climb rally cars, but has an extra trick: a hybrid power train, with the electric motor adding up further backing for quicker acceleration off the line.

Merc tuner Brabus has constructed the Widestar, with wide-track body kit, extensive wheel arches, new bumpers, special Brabus wheels and customized inside.

Boulevard Customs has severed off the roof of its GLK, equipped a wide-body kit and 26″ wheels, made over the interior and matched a bespoke sound system. The outcome, called Urban Whip, is rather significant of the customized Suzuki Vitaras accepted in the UK in the 1980s.

Legendary Motor Cars, meanwhile, has created the Four Corners Rock Crawler, which has beefed-up 4WD plus a winch to tow skateboarders - who can also ride down the car’s side rails.

The GLK 350, with 3.5-liter V6 petrol engine, will be for sale in North America in January 2009. The GLK will also be for sale in Europe, but not the UK.

The custom cars will be displayed at the SEMA show in Las Vegas next week.

They have used lightweight body materials and Bayer-designed “self-healing water based bodywork finishes”, that somehow work to repairs minor scratches automatically. How great is that?!

The F-150 Heavy Duty Dewalt Contractor Concept is depicted as the ‘ultimate contractor’s truck’. It has a built-in charger for battery-operated tools, a tailor-made storage area below the second-row seats and a special toolbox.

The Fahrenheit F-150 is different: it’s a weekend toy and carrier of motorbikes, quad-bikes and other ATVs. It has a 9,000lb winch at the front and rear, a bike rack and a sliding cargo drawer with toolbox, spare tyre and compressor - plus flame graphics on its exterior.

Street Scene Equipment has renovated an F-150 Lariat Super crew ‘to the next level’, trying to make it worthy of ‘taking friends to a black-tie event’ as well as ‘towing a large boat to the lake for a weekend of family fun’.

Finally, the Hi-Pa Drive F-150 is a truck with a difference: its 320bhp V8 has been substituted by an entirely-electric power train. 4 in-wheel motors deliver over 600bhp and more torque than the V8 - and use no petrol and emit no carbon dioxide. This one’s the pick-up Ford for the future.

The ’snakeskin green’ Challenger Targa, which contended in the Targa Newfoundland road race previously this year, has a facade chin spoiler to help down force, upgraded brakes and break as applied in the Viper, tailored six-speed manual gearbox and the 540bhp, 490lb-ft HEMI V8.

The mean-looking Challenger Blacktop also gets a HEMI V8, with retooled air intake and exhausts. Based on the production Challenger R/T, it has custom-made spoilers and a black-on-black paint finish with stripe. It is fixed low on coil-over suspension with strut tower braces, despite its 22″ Viper wheels.

Minor fine-tunes to the titling are projected to harmonize the looks of the newly reorganized C2. New wheels and trims and interior of the C1 get all-new covering and materials.
Citroen is also predicting better fuel economy and lower CO2 discharges. The 1.0i 68hp petrol version lets out 106g/km of carbon dioxide, which constitutes a decrease of 2.7% on the present model. The mean fuel consumption is fuel 62.8mpg, which is 2.1% betterment.

The new-look C1 will be on sale early in 2009 when further details and prices will be announced.

The British International Motor Show is being accommodated at the ExCeL Centre in London’s Docklands and boasts 13 world unveilings of new cars. Other attractors to keep everyone glad include a 3,500-seat theatre arena with 4 stunt-driving shows a day; the Adventure Land purpose-built off-road course, where show-goers can experience 4×4s from Daihatsu, Kia, Land Rover, Nissan, Toyota and Volvo; and the Taster Test Drive track, a 2.2km circuit to try out cars from Citroen, Seat, Mitsubishi, Honda, Toyota and Vauxhall. There are also Dock Rock performances where bands such as A-HA and Roxy Music will be wowing a 6,500 people each night.

Driven by Stephane Peterhansel, with co-driver Jean-Paul Cottret, Racing Lancer came in front of its close rival, the BMW X3 of Filipe Campos and Jaime Baptista, by a clean margin of 4 minutes, 3 seconds over the3-day, 515km path through the mountains of Portugal.

The team will now carry on testing in Portugal, Spain and France before its 4-car entry in the 2009 Dakar Rally which will take place in South America in January.
